A (very) brief update

Well, hello there! It’s been quite a while since my last post, for which I can only apologise: between an upgrade viva (which I passed – more on this soon!), my first experience teaching undergraduates, and surprising amounts of work since then, the first term of my second year has been rather more hectic than I had anticipated. Thankfully, all of this has given me plenty of material for new posts, which I’m looking forward to sharing with you all in the New Year.

One of my resolutions for 2018 is to try blogging weekly again. This certainly sounds ominous, but I’m convinced that it should be doable, as long as you are prepared to put up with content that might not be as polished as I might sometimes like it to be: after all, what’s a blog for if it’s not a place where ideas can be tested out before evolving, Pokémon-like, into their final form? (Preferably, of course, without having to wait until Level 36 to do so.)

I look forward to seeing you shortly, then, with plenty of (slightly shorter) posts in 2018 on topics such as the upgrade process (oooh!), teaching (aaah!), and Anglo-Norman textuality (yay!). I am, however, going to finish this brief update with a slight plug: over Christmas, the British Library invited me to write a blog post for them on the topic of my involvement with their In the Spotlight project. There was, of course, an Anglo-Norman angle to this particular post, so if you’re intrigued by the links that connect medieval customs and 18th-century playbills, please do click through and have a read.
